Stained Concrete Walkways
Concretes can be plain, dull, or worn. Adding a stain to either a new or old concrete surface will transform the walkway into a beautiful path.

Concrete stain is formulated to deeply permeate and bond with the existing surface upon application. Meant to last, it is UV-resistant, weather-resistant, and crack-resistant.
There are two types of stain — acid and water-based. There are pros and cons to each.
The components in acid stain, a mixture of hydrochloric acid, water, and metallic salts, react to form an industrial level bond with the concrete. The main limitation is that it is not the most environmentally friendly due to the chemical composition.
As an environmentally friendly and conscientious company, we only use water-based staining to bring out the natural features of the concrete, stones and other surfaces.
The color variety is limited also. Earth toned, subtle colors is the color palette that is offered. Luckily, large portions of houses and buildings use an earth-toned color schema, so the pathway would integrate quite seamlessly into the space.
Now, a water-based stain offers a wide array of vibrant and subdued colors. Water, acrylic, and color pigment work together to provide a beautiful coating that binds to the concrete.
A water-based stain is better for the environment has more color options, and dries faster — which makes application easier.
Whichever stain you decide to go with, both stains are great options to enhance any pathway.
Stain can be manipulated to look like other textures like stone, tile, slate, and even wood, but without the price tag. If maintained properly, it can last for 100 years! Because stained concrete, just like other forms of concrete, can get slippery when wet, there are non-skid additives that can prevent that… you want your guests to be able to make it to the door.

This finish won’t chip or scratch because it deeply permeates the porous and forms chemical bonds with the substrate. There are a multitude of textures, custom patterns and colors that you can choose from.
Polished concrete is another avenue that you can go down. This surface gives off a fantastic shine…it can be so reflective that it is practically a mirror. The reflectivity is customizable of course. This smooth surface will prompt your guests to feel the grandeur and luxury of the home or building, but again, for a good price.
Exposed aggregate (rocks, sand, or other fine material) concrete provides texture that is not only great for non-slip but it can create unique features.
